Responsibilities:
The IT Support Engineer is expected to provide professional and timely support to the management, staff, clients, or partners.
• Ensure high levels of service through proactive communications; provide rapid response and guarantee estimated response times up front.
• Provides support to the IT Manager on incidents and problems including system software errors, workstations and network configuration problems.
• Assist with software configurations, troubleshooting and performance tuning and optimization.
• May be asked to work together with other teams within the company for certain projects.
• Daily systems check on Backup, Antivirus, and OS Updates.
• May be required to provide offsite/remote troubleshooting assistance to staff or management in the absence of the IT Manager.
Requirements:
Education
• Bachelor’s Degree on Computer Science, Computer Engineering, BSIT, BSECE or any IT Related 4-year course.
Skills Required
• Basic desktop troubleshooting (hardware and software)
• Basic network troubleshooting.
• Basic network cabling using industry standards ISO/Cisco
• Intimate knowledge of Linux, Windows Servers (2003 and 2008), Windows XP and Vista operating systems
• Working knowledge on the Linux LAMP configuration.
• Working knowledge on Virtualization Technologies such as VMware and Citrix XenServer
• Working Knowledge on VoIP systems such as Asterisk
• Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, PostgresSQL setup and administration.
• Microsoft Windows Network– Basic setup and administration concepts.
• Working knowledge on basic/advanced network concepts (Basic IP network addressing, Local Area Networks, Wireless Networks, Wide Area Networks, VPNs, VLANs).
• Good understanding on how database applications work.
• Good English communications skills (written and spoken).
• Great Google-searching skills.
Extra Skills (not required but great to have)
• Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) admin and setup
• Cisco routers, security devices, and switches.
• PHP and SQL Coding Skills
Experience
• At least 2 years experience in working with the following technologies:
o Microsoft Office Technologies
o Microsoft Windows XP, Vista
o Microsoft Windows Server 2003
o Linux-based Technologies
